Tuesday Blue

Tuesday is Blues Day and Club Secretary Sandra Myler is this week’s Tuesday Blue. Really, this is a celebration of everyone involved in the DS Futsal team who did so well again at the Cairdeas Cup on Sunday. Sandra is heavily-involved in helping the team along with all the other areas of the club.

Sandra always says that the Futsal training with the team is her favourite part of the week and wouldn’t miss it for the world. Along with Amy Frisby, Colin Power and Dylan Carroll, she helps the team train at Carriganore, gets involved in the five-a-side games and, maybe most importantly, makes sure it’s a hugely enjoyable experience for all the players who all love having the craic with Sandra and the others.

The Blues did fantastically well on Sunday with wins against Bohs, Bray and Wexford, draws with Cork and Dundalk and only lost one game to the exceptional Finn Harps team who won all their matches in the tournament. They had terrific support from family and friends and did the club proud. Well done to the team on the day of Paul Corcoran, Paul Eaton, John Flynn, Zak O’Dwyer, Seán Toolin, Gary Treen and Chris Walsh.

All of this is on top of Sandra’s work as Club Secretary - a role she has held for close on seven years now. Anyone who’s been involved with a football club knows the endless demands on the secretary. With the Blues, we have men’s and women’s first teams, six academy teams and the pre-academy so it’s a mammoth task to keep up with registrations, rules and requirements.

Sandra, who previously was a volunteer in the club shop on matchnights, is also the ‘front of house’ person at the RSC. She looks after the players, all guests, the media, and always brings a warm, welcoming and positive energy in everything she does. She is so well-liked by everyone who comes to the RSC or deals with the Blues at every level with the kind of dedication that every club needs.
