Tuesday Blue
Shane MurphyTuesday is Blues Day and that feels good this week! Today’s Tuesday Blue is the hardest-working man in football - Cian Kelly.
You’ll have seen Cian photographing and filming the Blues EVERYWHERE. He covers every men’s game home and away, all the women’s team home games, and has photographed plenty of academy matches too. He arrives hours before kickoff to document the build-up to every match and is putting up serious mileage all over the country.
This weekend was typical of his effort. He covered the men’s team against Derry City on Friday night, then back into the RSC for the women’s game against Sligo Rovers on Saturday afternoon and back out in the wild conditions last night to finally photograph a win against Drogheda United. I can’t even estimate the hours he must spend editing, uploading and tagging his work too - serious dedication.

Capturing all the emotion of football up close - like Glenfield's goal in the playoff
Cian clearly has plenty of energy because when he’s not covering the Blues, he’s photographing junior and schoolboy league matches or doing promotional work for local businesses. Then, he has school in Ard Scoil na Mara and plays for Tramore AFC Under-17s.
A real Blues fan, he’s been a great addition to the Waterford FC media team and has captured so many great moments with players and fans including unforgettable pictures from the playoff final in Tolka Park last November. No doubt he’ll be back there on Friday night - hopefully for another win. The club is lucky to have him.
See more of his work on Instagram at CianKellyPhotography and give him a follow (if you haven’t already) to see all the onfield and behind-the-scenes action from the Blues.
